VA Pension

For those who served our country during a time of war, VA Pension provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs can be a valuable benefit with extra income to help cover medical bills. This can be extremely helpful with covering costs either in general or during a time when other benefits are under penalty.

While this is a valuable benefit, it does not actually cover care in a facility. It merely provides extra income to help pay the bill. Medicaid benefits, on the other hand, pay the entire bill. So, we often are focused on Medicaid benefits more than VA Pension.

Even so, VA Pension can provide a cash-flow means to receive in-home care or establish an independent living arrangement.

To be eligible for VA Pension the veteran or the veteran's surviving spouse must meet certain criteria. Those are:
  1. Service
  2. Disability, and
  3. Financial.
